How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates have no expectation of privacy when it comes to mail that is not sent from their attorney. Mail must be sent via USPS, and cannot be sent from another inmate or correctional facility. All mail is inspected and any mail containing harmful materials/information will be turned over to a Deputy/Sheriff for evaluation. Letter cannot contain glitter, stickers, crayon, colored pencil, or any unknown substances/odors. Jail fees for booking and warrants must first be paid before inmates are able to place money on their commissary accounts. Inmates are limited to $150 per week of commissary purchases. Money can be deposited into an inmate’s account online using the website www.jailatm.com. Additionally, money orders may be sent to inmates through the mail or money may be deposited into an inmate’s account using the kiosk in the jail lobby.

Visitation Hours

Both in-person and remote visits are available at the Alpena County Correctional facility. To arrange a remote visit, individuals must set up an account on inmatesale.com, purchase minutes, then schedule their visit. Inmates are permitted one remote visit per day. The hours for remote visitation are Monday through Sunday 6:30 am to 9:30 pm. Each inmate is permitted one onsite visit per week. The hours for in-person visits are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Any behavior that violates the facility rules will result in termination of the visit. All visitors are required to show a government issued ID prior to their visit. individuals under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Additional Jail Information

The Alpena Correctional Facility publishes their jail roster on their website. Within the roster, and inmate’s charges are shown along with their mugshot. Their court date, court type, and court name is listed as well. Information pertaining to the offense such as the offense date and arrest date are visible. The amount the arrestee owes for bond is displayed along with the arresting agency. Lastly, the inmate’s basic information (race, sex, height, weight) is included as well.

The Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office transfers its arrestees to the Alpena County Correctional facility. The Sheriff’s Office functions to protect and serve the citizens of Montmorency County. Montmorency County Public Records Information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) grants all individuals (except those incarcerated) access to public records; this includes information on the affairs of the public agencies and public officials. FOIA forms can be picked up and dropped off at the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office. There is also an option to mail the forms or fax them.
