The Osceola County Jail provides basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. Inmates are classified as either maximum, medium, or minimum-level security. Classification is determined by assessing an inmate’s current charges and previous convictions. Inmates are served three meals a day in the morning, afternoon, and night. The Osceola County Jail offers inmates the opportunity to participate in trustee and inmate worker programs, which may help reduce their sentence. Jail operations function 24 hours, 7 days a week. Mugshots are not available for arrested offenders.

How to Send Mail or Package

All inmate mail must be sent through USPS and be written on a prepaid postcard. All mail is subject to inspection for illegal materials. Mail from attorneys, courts, and government officials will be opened in the presence of an inmate, but have its confidentiality preserved. Mail that is rejected for security reasons will be returned to the sender with an explanation as to why the mail was rejected. Money can be deposited online, at the kiosk in the jail lobby, or by sending a money order through the mail.

Visitation Hours

To schedule a remote or in-person visit, one must contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Onsite visits are 30 minutes each and are conducted 5 days a week. Inmates are permitted 2 visits per week. The visitation hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 10:55 am and 1 pm to 3:55 pm. An appointment must be made at least 24 hours prior to the visit. Anyone who violates jail rules during the visit will lose their visitation privileges and the visit will be terminated. Visitors must wear appropriate clothing during the visit.

The VINE website offers a search function that allows the individual to look up an inmate by location, name, ID number, or case number. A list of matches will then appear in the search results. Each match will include the inmate’s name, age, and record details. Individuals may also view the inmate’s case status, case number, and plea status. The arresting agency is listed as well.

An FOIA form is made available on the OSceola County website. FOIA requests pertaining to incidents in Osceola County should be directed to oscadmin@osceolacountymi.com. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will issue a response to the FOIA request within 5 business days. Fees for FOIA requests are calculated based on the amount of labor, cost of copies, materials, and cost to mail the record. FOIA requests must include the individual’s name, address, and contact information.
