Kent County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Kent County Jail has a capacity of 1,500 inmates and utilizes modular and dormitory units to house inmates of all security classifications. Mugshots are available for arrested offenders. The Sheriff’s office has its own training facility which accommodates its 760 plus employees.

How to Send Mail or Package

Mail sent to the facility should be clearly addressed with the inmate’s name, and should have the full return address of the sender in the upper left-hand corner as well. Acceptable mail articles include letters sent in a legal size or small envelope, non-obscene postcards, magazines or soft cover books, 5×7 photographs (or smaller), 6×8 cards (or smaller) without glitter. No materials including nudity or obscene subject matter is permitted.

Money may be mailed to the inmate in the form of a cashier’s check or money order. Funds can be brought to the inmate in-person and deposited into an inmate’s account using kiosks located at the correctional facility. Lastly, funds also have the option of being deposited over the phone (866) 345-1884, or electronically when visiting the facility.

Visitation Hours

Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours prior to visit, and can be scheduled online using the ICS Solutions Visitor Website, or via kiosk available at the correctional facility. Visiting hours on Monday through Friday are 8:00 am to 11:00 am, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Visiting hours for Saturday and Sunday are 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Kent County also allows internet video visits from home. Internet video visit hours for all 7 days of the week are 8:00 am to 11:00 am, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Inmates can be found using the “Inmate Lookup” function. A last name must be input into the search to yield results. Results include a book number, book date, the inmate’s mugshot, and the inmates demographic information.

Kent County Public Records Information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) enables all persons access to public records of public bodies; this includes information on the affairs of the government and government officials. FOIA requests can be submitted verbally or in writing to departments containing the requested material. The Records Division distributes most FOIA requests. Records checks can be completed via mail or on a walk-in basis at one of three available locations. They generally take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to process in-person or 5 business days after receiving a request through mail.
