Clinton County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Clinton County Jail is located in St. Johns, Michigan. It was built in 1991 and expanded in 2004 and 2012. The current capacity is 236. While some inmates are county residents, others are boarders from federal, state, and other county governments.

How to Send Mail or Package

All mail must be addressed using an inmate’s name and ID and include a return address. Mail may be no larger than 8.5×11”, no thicker than light card stock, and capable of being run through a sheet scanner. No homemade or musical cards are allowed, nor are drawings in colored ink, marker, crayon, or glitter. Envelopes and paper must be white. The only permitted enclosures are photographs, which do not include printouts from the internet. Mail should be addressed to:

Money may be added to an inmate’s account online at expressaccount.com or by phone at 886-422-6833. It may also be added through the kiosk in the jail lobby, though there is a fund for all transactions. Inmates are not allowed to receive money orders.

Visitation Hours

The Clinton County Jail visitation schedule is based on the inmate’s dorm and name. Visitors should arrive ten minutes prior to their scheduled visit to check in. The schedule is as follows.

On Fridays, inmates in Dorm M may be visited. Those with last names that begin with A-M may schedule visits from 7pm to 7:30pm. Those with last names that begin with N-Z may schedule visits from 8pm-8:30pm.

On Saturdays, visits can be scheduled at: 1pm for Dorm A; 1:30pm for Dorm B; 2pm for Dorm C; 2:30pm for Dorm D; 3pm for Dorm E; 3:30pm for Dorm F; 7pm for Dorm I; 7:30pm for Dorm J; 8pm for Dorm G; and 8:30pm for Dorm H.

On Sundays, visits can be scheduled at: 1pm or 1:30pm for Dorm P; 2pm or 2:30pm for Dorm S; 3pm for Dorm E; 7pm for Dorm J; 8pm for Dorm H; and 8:30pm for Dorm R.

Clinton County Public Records Information

Public records may be requested through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Requests must be written and submitted in person, through the mail, or through email. An online FOIA Request Form is provided by the County. To submit directly, requesters must use Firefox or Explorer browsers. If using the Chrome browser, the form must be downloaded, completed, and then attached to an email sent to the address below. Fees for documents include any printing and/or mailing costs and labor costs billed in 15 minute increments.
