Mecosta County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The first jail in Mecosta County was constructed in 1868. Construction for the current county jail was completed 1965. The jail holds pretrial detainees and those who have received sentences of less than one year. The jail offers rehabilitative services in the form of substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, and medical services. Mugshots are not available for arrested offenders.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail via USPS while incarcerated. Mail must be sent in the form of a postcard no larger than 5×7. The writing on the postcard must be in pen or pencil, not marker or crayon. Postcards must have the sender’s address and full name or it will be discarded. Inmates may also receive pictures through USPS. Regulations require that photos mailed to the jail have a stamp on the back and the sender’s name and return address. To deposit funds in an inmate’s account for commissary use, the public is required to use the kiosk located in the lobby of the jail. Funds can also be deposited over the phone or through the mail.

Visitation Hours

The in-person visitation hours for the Mecosta County Jail are 8 am to 9 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Remote visitation hours are 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Sunday. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance, and visitors need to be approved by the jail prior to visitation. Visitors must be 18 years or older and possess photo identification. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Inmates are allowed two thirty minute visits per week. Visitors and inmates must act in accordance with visitation rules otherwise the visitation session will be terminated. The website to schedule a visit with an inmate is https://www.icsolutions.com.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office operates and maintains its own county jail. The Sheriff’s Office strives for the highest quality law enforcement, compassionate care, superior service, and a positive environment for citizens of the county. The Sheriff’s Office implements a community policing approach by providing cost-effective service and involving the community in the law enforcement system. Mecosta County Public Records Information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) grants all persons access to government records; this includes information on the affairs of the public agencies and public officials. To submit an FOIA request, one can obtain a copy of the FOIA request form from www.mecostacounty.org or submit a written request in another form of writing (letter, email, fax). The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office will issue a response to the FOIA request within 5 business days. The fee associated with the FOIA request depends upon the labor costs, costs of copying and duplication, cost of computer discs, and cost to mail the record. FOIA requests must include the individual’s name, address, and contact information as well as a description of the public record.
