Mackinac County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Mackinac County Jail was originally constructed in 1972 and currently has a capacity of 28 inmates. It is certified by the American Correctional Association and is recognized for meeting the standards for local jails and lockups. Mugshots are not available for arrested offenders at the Mackinac County Jail.

How to Send Mail or Package

Money may be sent to inmates by mailing it directly to the jail, depositing them in-person or at the jail ATM. Items permitted to be mailed to inmates include, underwear, socks, t-shirts, bras, books, board games, magazines, and newspapers. Items must be sent directly from a vendor and cannot be accepted from a personal address.

Visitation Hours

Visits are conducted on the HomeWAV Video Visitation platform. Visitors are subject to a warrants check and must not have been incarcerated at the Mackinac County Jail in the last six months. The visiting hours are 7 am to 11 pm Monday through Sunday. The option for remote video visits is also available.

Additional Jail Information

The Mackinac County Jail is currently hiring corrections deputies and accepts resumes/applications year round. Victims of crimes have the ability to check an offender’s release date online or by phone. The Mackinac County Jail also hosts a community service program in which offenders are able to contribute to their communities and learn skills that may be useful after release.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) grants the right of all citizens to access records from public agencies; this includes information on the affairs of the government and government officials. The FOIA form and instructions on how to complete it are available online. FOIA request forms require the individual to provide their name, address, and contact information. The individual must also describe the incident for which they are inquiring and their relation to the incident. FOIA requests are subject to fees, however, there is a waiver of fees for individuals representing non-profits or claiming indigence.
