The Van Buren County Jail seeks to provide a safe and humane environment for both employees and inmates. Inmates who are scheduled for jury trial can have clothing dropped off to wear during trial. Inmates are allowed prescribed medications after prescriptions have been reviewed and approved by staff. Some medications are not permitted. Inmates in the Work Release program may have 1 set of clean clothing dropped off to replace their used clothing during their stay. How to Send Mail or Package

All mail must be in the form of a postcard purchased from the post office. Money orders may be sent through the mail, but there must be a marking indicating a money order is contained within the envelope. Photos can only be sent electronically through the Securus system. All photos will be reviewed prior to being admitted into the system. Inmates may receive books or magazines that are mailed from a store or online business. Attorney mail must be sent from the attorney’s office. Family and friends may send money to an inmate using the online system at www.expressaccount.com.

Visitation Hours

All visits at the Van Buren County Jail are conducted online. Each visit is 30 minutes long and may have no more than two visitors. All visits are subject to recording and electronic monitoring. No nudity or provocative clothing is permitted. Visitors who are suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to visit inmates, and their visit will be canceled. Social media posts or videos of the facility are not allowed in the jail lobby. Disruptive behavior will result in the visit being terminated and the visitor being escorted off the premises. Visitors are required to provide their picture ID, home address, telephone number, and email address.

Each profile contains the inmate’s jail ID, inmate name, booking date, age, sex, booking type, and arresting agency.
