Alpena County Jail Information and Inmate Search
Citizens of Alpena County voted to construct a new jail in 2017 and the facility was completed in 2021. It has 94 inmate beds and an area of 28,013 square feet. It is run by the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office. The Office maintains an online portal through which the public can contact the jail.

The Alpena County Jail inmate roster may also be browsed online or searched by first and/or last name. These records include the offender’s status, identifying information, and mugshot. They also include offense, arrest, and booking dates, arresting agency, and bond information.
How to Send Mail or Package
All letters and packages to inmates must be sent through the US Postal Service. Letters must be written in black or blue ink, pencil, or type. Those without a return address will not be accepted. Letters may not contain glitter, stickers, crayon, color pencils, or unknown odors or substances. Stamps, envelopes, and paper are also prohibited and will be discarded. Money orders may be mailed to inmates. Funds to be used for bond or commissary may be added to an inmate’s account through a kiosk located in the jail lobby. The kiosk accepts cash or debit/credit cards. There is a $3 fee to deposit cash and a 10% charge to use a credit or debit card. Money may also be deposited online using JailATM.
