The Midland County Jail has a capacity of 274 beds. It employs the use of a podular design, which has separate pods for trustees, work release, female inmates, and inmates of varying classifications (medium, maximum, and direct supervision). How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive mail as long as it is sent through USPS. Mail must be sent in the form of a postcard with a maximum size of 5×7. The writing on the postcard must be in pen or pencil,and cannot contain any banned substances. Postcards must have the sender’s address and full name or it will be discarded. Inmates may also receive pictures through USPS as long as they follow jail rules. Regulations require that photos mailed to the jail have a stamp on the back and the sender’s name and return address. Cash or credit card be used to deposit funds into an inmate’s account using a kiosk located in the lobby of the jail. Funds can also be deposited over the phone via debit/credit card, or online using the website www.expressaccount.com.

Visitation Hours

All jail visits are conducted electronically; there are no in-person jail visits allowed at the Midland County Jail. Visits are facilitated using the Securus platform, which can be accessed at Securustech.net/VideoVisitation. To create an account, individuals are required to submit their name, address, and photo I.D. After account creation, the user is then required to request access to facilities that use the Securus platform. The correctional facility will then approve your request, thereby enabling the user to schedule visits.

Midland County Public Records Information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) permits all citizens access to government records; this includes information on the affairs of the government bodies and public officials. To submit an FOIA request, one can obtain a copy of the FOIA request form online or submit a written request in another form of writing to the Board of Commissioners Office. The Commissioners Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Requests must sufficiently describe the event to enable the public body the ability to find records of the event. The Midland County Sheriff’s Office will issue a response to the FOIA request within 5 business days. The fee associated with the FOIA request depends upon the labor costs, cost of making copies, cost of computer discs, and cost to mail the record. FOIA requests should include the individual’s name, address, and contact information.
