Monroe County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Monroe County Jail has a two-facility configuration that can hold over 400 inmates. The jail provides basic human necessities like food, shelter, and clothing. Inmates will be classified in one of three ways: maximum, medium, or minimum-level security. Classification depends upon the inmate’s charges and crimes they have been previously convicted of. Inmates are served three meals a day. The Monroe County Jail offers trustee and inmate worker programs for qualifying inmates that may reduce the length of their stay. The jail operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. The Sheriff’s website grants the public access to a jail roster, however, mugshots are not available for arrested offenders.

How to Send Mail or Package

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office offers two methods to send money to an inmate. Money can be sent online using Smart Deposit Plus, or it can be deposited at a kiosk in the jail lobby. The sender will need to provide the full name of the inmate as well as the inmate’s assigned permanent number. The facility code for the Monroe County Jail is D92, and the Location Code is 5500. Mail can be sent to inmates via USPS, and must be in the form of a 5×7 postcard. Any mail containing inappropriate material or contraband will be destroyed. Soft cover books and magazines are available through subscriptions directly from the publisher.

Visitation Hours

Video visits are allowed Sunday through Saturday from 8 am to 9 pm. All visits may be monitored or recorded. Visitors over 17 must have a valid state-issued ID, whereas visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Visits must be scheduled 48 hours in advance. Any visitors who violate jail rules during visits may have their visiting rights revoked. Inmates are permitted two onsite visits per week, and unlimited offsite visits. Offsite visits cost $7 each for a total of 30 minutes per visit.

The jail roster is available online and allows the public access to inmate information including name, age, race, and sex. The inmate’s arrest date is visible along with information about their warrants. Charges are visible for some inmates. If the inmate has been given a bond, the bond amount is listed.

Monroe County Public Records Information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) grants all individuals access to public records; this includes information on the affairs of government agencies and its officials. FOIA forms are available on the Sheriff’s website, however, they are not mandatory as requests only need to be made in writing. Requests must be submitted online on the Sheriff’s website, or in-person at one of three locations listed below. Events must be specific enough to allow the administrator to locate the file in connection to the event. The fee associated with the FOIA request depends on labor costs, costs of copying and duplication, cost of materials, and cost to transmit the record. FOIA requests must include the individual’s name, address, and contact information.
