How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to send mail to anyone outside of the correctional facility. Incoming mail must indicate the sender’s name and address, be sent through USPS, and is inspected upon receipt. Packages, magazines, hardcover books, jewelry, food, cash, checks, and lewd material are not permitted. Mail can be submitted electronically through in-cell kiosks for a 50 cent fee. Inmates may receive money for commissary or bond through kiosks available at the jail or online. There is a fee for each deposit made.

Visitation Hours

The in-person visitation hours for the Lapeer County Jail are 8 am to 9 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with blackout times of 12 pm to 1 pm and 5 pm to 6 pm. Remote visitation hours are 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Sunday with blackout times of 12 pm to 1 pm and 5 pm to 7 pm. Visitors must be 18 years or older and possess photo identification. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Inmates are allowed two thirty minute visits per week.

Additional Jail Information

Inmates are permitted a chirping device, which allows them to message family and friends through a dedicated phone number. Funds must be applied for the inmate to be able to access the chirping messaging device. Inmates are also able to purchase access to a tablet containing education and entertainment content. Inmates may make outgoing phone calls from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm every day.
