The Cooper Street Correctional Facility was opened in July, 1997. It is located across the street from the former State Prison of Michigan. The facility also functions as a release center for prisoners who are in the process of transferring to community center placement, or those who are about to parole or discharge.

Visitation Policies:

Visitors must be on the inmate’s approved visitors list prior to visiting.
Visitors must sign in and must be over 17 with a valid photo ID
Inmates are allowed three 20 minute visits per week and may have one visitor at a time
Visitors who are under the influence/intoxicated or appear under the influence/intoxicated will be denied visitation
Camera, cell phones, and recording devices will not be permitted into the visitation area
Food and drink is not permitted when visiting inmates
Visitors may not wear revealing clothing
Visitors violating rules will have their visit terminated and may have their visiting privileges suspended
